This month’s NIH Research & Consulting (NIHR) Staff Feature is on Ed Piedrahita! Ed has over 20 years of experience in the Healthcare and Technology industries and an extensive background working with F500 companies.

Why are you passionate about the Healthcare Industry?

I have always felt called to find a way to make a difference in the world around me. Working in the healthcare industry is a great way to do that. I grew up around this field. My Mom worked as a registered nurse her entire working life, and that really sparked an interest and also provided me with a comfort level with all things medical. I am a naturally curious person and I like to understand how things work. Focusing that curiosity on healthcare technology is fulfilling and rewarding.

What do you enjoy most about working with NIH Research & Consulting clients?

I really enjoy getting to know new clients and strengthening relationships with long-term clients. Being able to reach into every corner of the healthcare space and interacting with many different kinds of healthcare professionals is very rewarding. Every client is different, every product or service is different, and every end user/decision maker is different. I feel lucky to be able to interact with so many different facets of this fascinating industry while interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

What do you like most about the NIHR culture?

I think we all agree that what stands out about NIHR is the supportive culture of our team and our commitment to excellence when it comes to serving our clients. We hold ourselves to a very high standard, and we support each other to ensure we reach that standard together. From the top down, this crew is truly top-notch! There is such an amazing wealth of experience here, and I have learned so much from working with this team of experts.

What do you think is your biggest business strength?

I communicate well with people. I understand the needs of our clients and their target markets. I quickly assimilate what the hot button issues are and understand how we can apply our particular client product or service to help fulfill that need. I understand people and enjoy helping them find solutions.

What are some successes or milestones you’ve achieved at NIH Research & Consulting?

I understand the value proposition of our customer’s products and services and successfully convey that to their target market, which brings in revenue for them and meets our project goals. I’ve had situations with clients where I’ve identified a path to get to a key client and opened up a network of hospitals at the corporate level. Due to many positive successes, many clients I’ve worked with renew, and that’s always a plus. NIHR is known for client retention.

Share with us a fun fact about you!

I love animals and have been blessed to be able to work with animals at various times in my professional life. Two of the most exciting experiences I had included helping to perform an ultrasound on a 3,700-pound Northern White Rhino. This is one of the most endangered animals on earth. At the time there were only 7.  I also had the opportunity to take x-rays of a 3,000-pound Beluga Whale.

Congratulations to Ed from all of his colleagues at NIH Research & Consulting on Staff Feature of the Month!
